On Saturday 2nd June 2018, TAG Farnborough Airport opened its doors for the annual Twilight Runway Challenge.
Now in its 7th year, this event was bigger and better than ever before with 565 participants racing around the runway and raising money for The Community Matters Partnership Project (CMPP).
A total of £7380.09 was raised through ticket and t-shirt sales, pre, and at the event. A grand job from all involved, and a whopping amount of money that will be pumped back into the community via CMPP’s Youth Aspirations Fund and the Give & Get Day programme.
Elaine Turner, Marketing and Events Manager at TAG Farnborough Airport and organiser of the Twilight Runway Challenge, said: “We are proud to be leading an event which brought together the local community to benefit a worthwhile local charity.”
Paul Maunders who came to record the event via a drone, said: “Farnborough Airport is a unique location for a running event, nice and flat with amazing views of the jets as the sun sets. This was my first Twilight run event, and I was delighted to be able to film it. I didn't compete in the run, but my family did, and I did a fair bit of running around chasing my drone! I look forward to attending again next year.”
Jenna Grant, Operations Manager & Project Coordinator at CMPP, said: “Well done to all participants who came and got involved! We had a lovely mix of people from all ages and backgrounds running, skating, cycling around the runway. And what a picturesque setting with everyone passing the finish as the sun was setting. Finally, a huge thanks to all the companies involved including TAG Farnborough Airport, The Sixth Form College Farnborough, The Village Hotel Farnborough, Aldershot Garrison, FDR Promotions and Optimum Performance.”
Thank you to all who came and took part - see you again next year!
