CMPP's focus for December was the annual Christmas Toy and Gift Collection which ran from the 1st to the 12th of December.
Following the success of last year’s Drive, CMPP partners embarked on their collection for local charities, youth centres, hospices and hospitals which support many of the most deprived families and young people in the community. Last year’s collection produced a fantastic 850 gifts donated by the wonderfully generous employees of CMPP’s partner organisations. This year the CMPP team were aiming for more than 1,000 presents to reach a wider network of people and make their Christmas just a little bit brighter.
Christine Eustace, Project Manager for CMPP describes the results. “Contributions arrived by the sack load from employees of Barons BMW, Rushmoor Borough Council, Farnborough Business Park, Zurich, TAG Farnborough Airport, Capquest, Fluor, Sixth Form College Farnborough, Village Hotel, Aviator Hotel, Farnborough International and FDR Promotions. Students from Fernhill School also donated some brand new books, purchased with funds raised from a second hand book sale. The Child Law Partnership also heard about the event and contributed masses to the collection”.
An incredible 1,124 gifts were donated through CMPP partner employees, equitable to an estimated £16,860! Gifts donated included toys, books, sweets, games, toiletries, pjs, vouchers and so much more - the list was literally endless! For “visual readers” the 1,124 items donated would equate to a whole conference room filled with parcels from floor to ceiling, each and every one wrapped beautifully.
The kind-hearted and generous employees from a number of local businesses working together through CMPP have helped to benefit 27 local organisations/groups and 1,124 individuals in need this Christmas. Sorting through 1,124 presents and distributing them around the local area proved to be a challenge fit for only the most dedicated elves; to the rescue of the CMPP Hub came Rob Tillier from Accelerate Driver Training, Gina Finn from Barons BMW and Charlotte Dunlop from TAG Farnborough Airport. Over the course of 4 days, the presents were sorted and given to the following local organisations: Creating Futures, Church of the Good Shepard, Source Young Mums, Source Young Mum Dependents, Women's Refuge, First Wessex, Shooting Star Chase Hospice, Naomi House, Frimley Park Hospital, Step by Step, Home-Start Rushmoor and the Prospect Friday Night Youth Club.
Jenna Grant, CMPP Project Coordinator and Operations Manager, said: “It has been truly overwhelming to see the sheer volume of presents donated from caring local partners and other companies. I don’t think any of the photos do the volume of presents justice...there were absolutely loads. We cannot thank our partners and everyone else who donated enough, it’s been absolutely magical to share the joy of Christmas with children who need it most this year!”
Children who received gifts said:
“To the people who gave me the Jam Classic Speaker, it’s probably the best present anyone has ever given me and I hope you all have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!”
