On Friday 23rd June 2017, CMPP partners were invited to ‘A Night at the Races’ for CMPP’s Summer Social.
The annual event organised collaboratively by CMPP welcomed just over 130 delegates. The Village Hotel kindly hosted the event in their Inspiration Suite and put on a delicious ‘racing’ buffet to tie in with horse racing season.
The event saw the culmination of CMPP’s annual Grand Prize Draw which helps the partnership to raise funds for the Youth Aspirations Fund (YAF). Thanks to the following organisations for supporting the raffle and donating generously to the cause: Aviator Hotel, Fluor, Zurich, Bombay Sapphire, Farnborough International, HRG, Capquest, The Village Hotel, Kempton Racecourse, Lingfield Racecourse, Jake’s Play Centre, Source Supplies, Tipsy Pigs, The West End Centre, Team Sport, Accelerate Driver Training, Emirates Air Cable, Birdworld, Bubblegum Balloons, Wellington Country Park, McMullen Brewery, Bills Camberley, Princes Hall Theatre, Camberley Theatre, Hogs Back Brewery, Buy a Gift, The Big Apple Woking, Bekonscot Model Village & Railway, Barons Pubs, Harbour Park, Byron Burger Camberley, Jump Factory, TopGolf, Vue Camberley, The Hogs Back Leisure Club, Pizza Express Camberley, The Bear Camberley, Farnborough Leisure Centre, RNRU UA, Farnborough Business Park, Grainger, ODEON Farnborough, Squires Garden Centre, Packhouse Antiques, Guildford Spectrum, Farnham Maltings, The Look Out Discovery Centre, BMW, Hidesign, Scalextric, Aldershot Town FC, The Gym Farnborough and Army Golf Club.
And what’s an event without a little competition? The best dressed table award went to Farnborough Business Park who exceeded all expectations and decorated, in true race theme, the table with horses and rosettes to give it that Royal Ascot feel.
CMPP partner organisations were given the chance to sponsor a race for the evening. Zurich, FDR Promotions, CJH, Peartree Childcare, Grainger, BMW and The Aviator Hotel contributed a grand total of £400 through sponsorship. A generous donation for an auction prize was put forward by Kevin Matthew of Central Heating Services. The auction was to win a Box at Ascot Racecourse for the Dubai Duty Free Shergar Cup & Concert. Neil Dudman from Pear Tree Childcare won the auction and contributed £700 towards the overall amount raised.
Neil Dudman said: “I am delighted to have won the box at Ascot Racecourse and am very much looking forward to enjoying the sun and music in the evening.”
Elan Goldsmith, CMPP Events Coordinator, said: “What an amazing night! It was great to see so many people dressed up for an evening at the races, winning money and having a good laugh. Thank you to everyone who came and played their part in raising money for local young people.”
This year’s event raised a staggering £8,618. which includes the total from the Grand Prize Draw, delegates betting at the night, race sponsorship and ticket sales. All monies raised will go to local projects with a focus on raising aspirations in young people.
Jenna Grant, CMPP Operations Manager said: “Thank you to everyone who came, dined and wined, it looked like everyone was having a great time socializing and laughing the night away! The atmosphere was electric and it was lovely to welcome some new faces to the evening. Thank you to everyone who betted so generously, I cannot believe how much money we have managed to raise for local causes!”
All funds from the evening will contribute to the Youth Aspirations Fund (YAF). Applications to CMPP's YAF open every October to local community groups, charities, not for profits, schools and individuals who may apply for funding for projects that will help raise aspirations in local young people. So far the YAF has benefited 34 projects, totalling £57,467.00 and countless more value in kind via our volunteering and skills sharing initiatives.
