On 12 May 2017, a group of volunteers from the Finance Team at BMW went down to Hawley Community Garden to build an outside shelter for community gardeners to use throughout the year.
Hawley Community Garden is a local community garden aimed to increase knowledge and activity around sustainable food sources. It further acts as a social cohesion project, enabling people of all ages, genders and cultures from the Hawley Estate in North Farnborough to come and take part in a friendly and safe environment. The garden encourages community spirit, working together and healthy living.
The team created a wooden shelter in the garden and also got stuck in clearing the garden and creating more raised beds for users to plant things in.
Helen Francis from Hawley Community Garden, said, “We and the residents are so grateful for all BMW’s effort and hard work, thank you!”
The volunteers from BMW all said they had a great team building day away from the accounts! Volunteers found the day extremely rewarding and would love to take up another Give & Get Day in 2018!
Once again, a huge thank you to everyone who gave up their time to bring some shelter to our local community gardeners!
Hawley Community Garden is completely managed and run by the local community and its members. Thinking about becoming a member? Email firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.
